CreativeFuture is a proud sponsor of the 2014 Horizon Award – a new annual scholarship awarded to talented, up-and-coming female directors.

The winner of the award will receive $10,000 and a trip to the Sundance Film Festival in January, where she will have the opportunity to have her work viewed by some of Hollywood’s most influential directors and producers, such as Christine Vachon (Boys Don’t Cry, Hedwig and the Angry Inch, Far from Heaven); Cassian Elwes (Dallas Buyers Club, Lee Daniels’ The Butler, All is Lost); and Lynette Howell (Blue Valentine, A Place Beyond the Pines).

recent study revealed that of the top 250 domestic grossing movies worldwide in 2012, women comprised only 9% of directors. The Horizon Award was created to change just that. The contest is open to any woman who is either still enrolled in college or within six months of having left, is without an agent, and has made less than $5,000 on her creative talent.

Along with CreativeFuture, the Horizon Award is co-sponsored by Vimeo, Twitter, Sundance Institute, The Blacklist, Women in Film, and the Creative Mind Group.

Qualified candidates should submit their films (which may not exceed two minutes in length) by December 15, 2014. For more information on the Horizon Award, please click here.
